about

"'Heaven' is the most vulnerable song I have ever written.," Lucy explains “At the dawn of the pandemic my beautiful mother got sick with cancer and passed away. Mum was my best friend and my whole world. She was visiting friends in the UK at the time and luckily I was also touring the UK so I could be by her side. Being far from home in a foreign land, it was extra traumatic. Me and my sister flew back to Australia with her ashes shortly after”. On return, lockdown in Australia began and Lucy’s father suddenly became sick. Cancer also struck her father but due to the pandemic, Lucy was unable to be with her father and sadly, he also passed away.

As Lucy reflected on the traumatic year on her home veranda, she picked up her guitar and “Heaven” just flowed out of her. An extra special moment for Lucy, she explains “I was not allowed to say goodbye to my father so I never got closure. While I was writing this song I really felt connected to him, it was like I was talking directly to him and it really gave me great comfort. Now I still get the same feeling every time I sing this song. It has become my way to feel close with him.” “Heaven” was recorded and produced in her home studio. It was also co-produced and mixed by Aria winner Govinda Doyle and mastered by 12 x Grammy winner Felipe Tichauer.
